Green Ammonia onshore supply chain

ZEEDS_2_MAP_2
Leading industrial players are developing Norway’s first complete and commercially viable green ammonia value chain. The new infrastructure will primarily supply the shipping industry with carbon free energy within 2025.

The production of green ammonia will take place in the municipality of Berlevåg, in the North of Norway, where Varanger kraft already operates a windfarm of 50 MW and have plans for further extension to approximately 200 MW within the next years. The green ammonia will be produced from this renewable wind energy, and Varanger Kraft and Aker Clean Hydrogen are cooperating to build a combined facility for production of hydrogen and ammonia in Berlevåg.

The ammonia will be supplied to consumers in shipping, to offshore installations and remote island energy systems like Svalbard with a specially designed bunkering vessel.
